Got Half an Hour?
TL;DR If you’re having trouble finding the time to write, limit it to 30 minutes a day.
Brought to you by raspberry shrub and fizzy water over ice.*
My first book coach, Jerry Mundis, who got me through the creation of a first draft of a dreadful novel, (not his fault—I hired him to get me through the process, not to edit), told me at the end of our first meeting that based on my very demanding full time job and extracurricular activities (I was in a band at the time) I was only PERMITTED to write 30 minutes a day.
Jerry is no longer with us but his impact on my writing life—and now hopefully yours—lives on.
If you write for 30 minutes a day consistently, optimally about the same time each day, the book will get done. Like, literally set a timer and stop the minute it goes off, even if it’s mid-sentence. (Your subconscious will catch on.)
If you try this, let me know how it goes.

*What? You’ve never had shrub? It’s a non alcoholic mixer you can use to make cocktails or just use to flavor plain seltzer. I was introduced to City Tavern in Philadelphia. Martha Washington’s recipe, so they said. It’s made from fruit, sugar, and vinegar. If you like a sweet/tart profile, you’ll love shrub. Here’s the recipe I use.
